February 2018 Nike React technology has debuted in the Nike Epic React model. Back in the days, this innovation took once place in Hyperdunk React 2017. Nike Epic React has become the first one's Nike shoes with such a huge React midsole ever.

To get there, Nike's in-house chemists and mechanical engineers came together to test ingredients to see which composition would yield the perfect outcome. It was a process that demonstrated Nike's in-house manufacturing ingenuity. After more than 400 hundred combinations of chemistry and processing, and using scientific methods to dial in on materials with certain amenable attributes, they landed the unique composition of Nike React foam.

From there, they put Nike React technology through more than 2,000 hours of testing on the feet of basketball players, where it proved to be the most durable foam and to deliver greater energy return than any other Nike basketball shoe tested. Because the runners expressed that they craved similar sensations, it was a no-brainer to take Nike React technology to running shoes.

«I want to emphasize this because we're not comparing Nike React technology to some no-name foam that fell off the back of a truck somewhere; we're comparing it to our latest Lunarlon and, even with the bar set that high, Nike React technology delivers that much more energy return with each and every stride » – Ernest Kim, Director of Advanced Footwear, Nike Running.

Undoubtedly, experimental combinations with different types of cushioning materials have taken place in the history of Nike. For example, KD12, the one's with two way different Zoom Air blocks: full-size insole and an additional block under the heel. However, Nike Air Max 270 React is the first experience when both technologies blended this way, which makes it as soft as a flexible

«The first is the exciting opportunity that occurs when we deny the traditional methods of making shoes — stacking materials. Because of that denial, the shoe becomes a biomorphic shape. With Air, and thanks to innovative techniques like the outer swept pinch, we can limit layers and create a symbiosis between foot and cushioning», – John Hoke, Nike's Chief Design Officer

In addition to all of the highlights, the new model has taken Bar Tack technology from Nike React Element 87. Bar Tack is a short curly line, which simultaneously strengthens the details of the top, subjected to gradual wear, and at the same time ensures their neat appearance.

«Instead of no-sew or stitched on panels, the Air Max 270 React is built with a bar tack technique inspired by the Element React 87, » explains Dylan Raasch, Nike Senior Sportswear Design Director. «This creates the floating eye stay aesthetic.»

To highlight the new air innovation, the original Air Max 270's midsole was half foam (phylon) and half 270-air unit. This construction on a taller air unit without foam between the consumer and the air unit created the sensation of falling forward and heel pain. The Air Max 270 React solves for this issue with full-length Nike React foam, a lower rake (offset), and Phylon under the heel for extra bounce.

Nike Air Max 270 React is the natural evolution of what the Nike Air technology means. Back in the 2006, Nike achieves the first 360-degree Nike Air midsole, completely eliminating the traditional midsole. (The project's origins were rooted in something called "bubble air," which involved vacuforming a polyurethane sheet into the shape of a midsole and an outsole together, laying another sheet on top, joining those sheets and then inflating it.) The Nike Air 360 demonstrates how Nike Air ideas morph and cross-pollinate.

The initial releases of the Nike Air Max 270 React share a consistent foundation in art and design history. Each colorway translates a specific artistic style or movement in its blocking and hues. The lead launch colorway, for example, heralds the 100th anniversary of the Bauhaus's founding by recalling the school's formal studies of asymmetrical balance. Other colorways highlight explorations of geometric compositions, mid-century-inspired color blocking, San Francisco psychedelia and more.

The Nike Air Max 270 React releases globally beginning July 3.
