SALOMON Annecy Design Center Visit [Revealing TECHUNTER 10 ANNIVERSARY]
Salomon has been out there since 1947 – known for its alpine gear, eye-catching footwear, and even for creating entirely new sport disciplines.
But what really stood out for us are the last three to four years, post-Covid, where the company’s direction has clearly shifted.
The Sportstyle collection is now dominating the footwear scene, collaborating with some of the most forward-thinking names in fashion – MM6, Boris Bidjan Saberi, Y/Project, and more.
Running, and especially trail running, has become the key performance focus, driven by a roster of Salomon athletes conquering every mountain race. The level of innovation in product design has become bolder, more experimental. The overall feel of the brand has grown more premium, elevated, and deliberately designed.
In January 2025, during Paris Fashion Week, we met Scott Mellin, Global Chief Brand Officer, as he guided us through the Salomon showroom – presenting new developments and the brand’s evolving direction. That was the moment we realized how profound this transformation truly is.
In September 2025, we traveled to Annecy, to the Salomon Design Center, to understand in detail what has happened – and what’s coming next – across multiple dimensions: R&D, creativity, S2A, footwear, apparel, carry design, retail experience, and brand strategy. All of it driven by one clear vision – Innovation That Is Shaping New Futures.
