We were always fascinated by the beauty of different textiles. When you see such a detailed picture of the structure of some amazing fabric, you can definitely understand the whole world of exploration and development behind its creation. And you are just mesmerized by the beauty of it. So we started our THM MACROSHOTS editorial series, where we explore the complexity, depth, and beauty of different fabrics, textiles, materials, and hardware through the macro lens.
Our new macro-editorial explores the structure of shoes from the new spring-summer 22 drop by ROA and A-COLD-WALL*. Recalling our previous macro-shoot of Minaars, we noted the high level of detail in the shoes by the team at ROA and their use of premium and experimental materials that are ideal for our macro-research.
The collection, in collaboration with A-COLD-WALL* and curated by designer Samuel Ross, received an even more unique approach to the visual presentation through rare materials, graphics and coloring.
The silhouettes of the collection became branded Minaar and Andreas. Minaar is a slip-on sneaker version with a magnetic Fidlock closure instead of laces. They are equipped with an anti-slip Vibram Megagrip sole, which provides high stability on dry and wet surfaces. The model is made of nylon, polyester and leather, with the addition of rubber and Kevlar.
Andreas is a classic hiking silhouette from ROA: sturdy lacing closure with metal hooks, a long tongue, and a rear pull tab. These are made of technical nylon, polyester, leather, suede, and rubber, also planted on Vibram Megagrip sole made of rubber and phylon.
The distinctive elements of the entire collection are ACW* typographic logos, hand-applied spray art, and contrasting color details referring to Samuel's distinctive identity and his background as a graphic designer. At the same time, elements similar to polished metal and metal mesh, marble chips and inserts drilled with "bolts" on the toe clearly refer to the designer's architectural and industrial areas of work.
Here is our macro-editorial, exploring these beautifully constructed boots.
Stay tuned for our upcoming interview with Patrick Stangbye about the new ROA clothing collection with our exclusive shots.
